At Power Play, we take a different approach to physical therapy—one that prioritizes you over insurance limitations. As an out of network practice, we offer personalized, high-quality care without the restrictions of traditional insurance-based models.
This means:
Longer, one-on-one treatment sessions – No double-booking or overlapping patients. Every session you have will be 1-on-1 time between you and your Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Goal-centered, individualized treatment - Each session will have a purpose in achieving your overall goal efficiently. There will be no unnecessary visits dictated by insurance approvals.
Specialized expertise – With advanced training in orthopedic physical therapy, movement, biomechanics, and sports performance, we cater specifically to high performance youth/adult athletes and weekend warriors.
Evidence-based treatment techniques – We integrate fortified research into our practice to maximize client potential in each session.
Direct access and flexibility – No referrals, no insurance, with flexible scheduling that works for you.
At Power Play Physical Therapy & Performance, we operate as an out-of-network practice, which means we do not accept insurance.
This model allows us to provide higher-quality, personalized care without the restrictions and limitations imposed by insurance companies. Unlike traditional PT clinics that that may see other patients at the same time, this model guarantees 1-on-1 care while we believe will help you recover faster. In this model you tend to require less total visits, and end up spending less time AND money than traditional PT when considering, co-pay, deductible and unnecessary visits.
While we do not accept insurance, many patients find that they can still be reimbursed for our services by their insurance companies or by using their HSA. We will provide patients with all of the information about their treatment required for potential reimbursement.
We recommend giving your insurance company a quick call (usually the number on the back of your card) and asking "What are my out of network physical therapy benefits?" It is common that they will reimburse you for some, if not all, of your PT services, especially if you have a PPO.
Frequency and duration of your treatment plan will be decided by you and your Doctor of Physical Therapy. One of the major benefits of out-of-network coverage is the freedom to tailor your treatment plan to your specific needs and goals, without the burden of unnecessary visits. This allows us to maximize our time spent in the clinic so that you can continue to progress independently at home.
Your first appointment will consist of an initial assessment which includes a thorough one-on-one evaluation with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. This will last approximately 60-90 minutes and will consist of a movement analysis, medical history review and a discussion about your personal goals. You will leave with a home exercise program and an understanding of your condition so that you can jumpstart your rehab.
No, you do not need a referral to work with us. As an out-of-network physical therapy practice, we provide direct access to care, meaning you can schedule an appointment without needing a physician’s referral. Massachusetts allows direct access to physical therapy, which means you can start treatment right away.
If you do plan to seek out-of-network reimbursement four our services from your insurance company, some insurance providers may require a referral or prescription. In these cases, we recommend checking with your provider to understand your specific benefits/requirements.
